Natasha Leong
I've been a falconer since 2001. I've flown a wide variety of birds over the years, including all three accipiters, a kestrel, merlin, peregrine and of course, several redtails:) In the beginning of 2013 I had the opportunity to learn how to make hoods from a professional hoodmaker and since then I've received numerous tips and pointers from several other awesome hoodmakers. I've also been taking falconry and wildlife pictures since 2005. At the NAFA meet in Garden City, Rob Palmer came out hawking with us and when I saw the pictures he had taken of my redtail I knew right then I wanted to be able to do that. The next spring I got my first DSLR and I was off to the races. We moved to Montana in the fall of 2013 and hoodmaking and other leatherwork became our full time job. In the winter of 2021 we rejoined civilization and moved to western Kansas. I am currently working agricultural abatement from mid-May through mid-October, so all hoodmaking can only be done November-April.
